Global Failures in Medical Treatment for Women
On Wednesday, November 1st, the luncheon meeting of RCFC at the Lincoln Center features our fellow Rotarian, Dr. Larry Kieft as guest speaker.  Following his introduction by Colin Campbell, Larry will explain how the differences in women’s health based on geography is stunning.  Infectious disease plays an important role in the developing world but differences in maternal mortality, infant mortality, cancer survival, and sexually transmitted diseases is measured in multiples of the rates for women in the developed world.  These realities create many challenges to better health for many women throughout the world.  READ MORE...

Erin Hottenstein (Evening Meeting)
This week during our evening meeting at Sweetwater Brewery, we welcome Erin Hottenstein as our guest speaker. Erin is a Board Director at the Health District of Northern Larimer County. She was elected by the public in May 2023 to a four-year term. The board provides policy direction and oversight since the Health District receives property taxes. Erin was motivated to run for several reasons, including to raise the profile of the Health District in the community and to expand mental health resources.

We will also welcome two new members to our Rotary Club!

RECAP: Becoming Fierce in a Challenging World
Given this year’s Rotary focus on Mental Health (How are you, Really?), Wednesday's speaker, Stephanie James, a local psychotherapist and transformational coach (and also the daughter of fellow-member Judy Boggs) was right on target. Stephanie addressed the power of these questions.  When we ask “how are you?” most often the rote answer “Fine” or “good.” However, when we ask, “How are you really?” the message is conveyed that, “I see you and I care about your wellbeing.” READ MORE...

Creating hope in the world!
One community grant at a time!
During recent evening meeting, we had the honor of presenting a check for $2,000 to the Fort Collins-based service learning and leadership organization: Global Leaders. Global Leaders is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that empowers students to become leaders through service locally and abroad. Based right here in Fort Collins, their students develop a lifelong ethic of service by combining a 9-month local service-learning experience with a 2-week cultural immersion program in Guatemala (a place very close to our hearts here at the Rotary Club of Fort Collins!)  Learn more about Global Leaders on their website: globalleadersinc.org"

We are proud to continue our long history of supporting our local community. Pictured below is a community grant presentation of $7,500 to Family Support Alliance at our 75th Anniversary Party in 1993. (Photo: Dean Johnson, Bonnie Titley, Julie Johnson)

Guatemala Update (Global Grant - El Potrero)
We have been participating in a joint EWB/Rotary project in Guatemala to bring potable water to the small community of El Potrero. Construction started in July, but the project in Guatemala is temporarily on hold due to a nationwide protest over the current political situation.  Please read the linked article below for more information. We hope for a peaceful democratic resolution and then project work will be able to resume.
