I want to take this time and thank everyone for a great year. The club continues to thrive because of the tremendous people involved in our club. I am grateful that we continue to have programs that engage, meaningful projects, and make generous contributions to our community and around the world!
The club continues to grow both the noon and evening memberships! We are financially sound. We are planning for sustainable growth with leadership training and financial planning.
Imagine what we can accomplish if every member actively participates in a committee. Imagine we grow our membership from 145 current members to 200 members. Imagine we grow our club Legacy Foundation to $2.5 million so that it kicks off $100,000 per year for our Charities budget.
In 2024, resolve to invite a friend, neighbor, or work colleague to come find out what Rotary is about! Active, engaged membership is the key to the success of our club, making a more meaningful impact in our community and world and all of us having more fun!
Is the Electric Vehicle dead? On life support? Or is electric still the future of the auto industry? Are EVs truly “green” or do they equally pollute? This Wednesday for our lunch meeting at the Lincoln Center, our speaker, John Bidwell, researches the industry and will share the latest information from his EV Buyer’s Guide, helping us separate rumors from fact.READ MORE...
The DEI Fellowship will be held this Wednesday, January 3, immediately following the regular noon meeting in the Lincoln Center’s Columbine room. Will Robinson, a Braver Angels Ambassador (https://braverangels.org), will be our featured speaker, discussing the Braver Angels mission and workshops, with focus on “Skills for Bridging the Divide”, a cross-partisan workshop to be staged February 29th, at the Senior Center. The DEI Fellowship is sponsoring that workshop, open to all RCFC members and their families. Linked here is an article on the Braver Angels organization that recently appeared in Rotary Magazine. Braver Angels is leading the nation’s largest cross-partisan, volunteer-led movement to bridge the political divide.
With an education in chemical engineering, biochemistry and material sciences, Will Robinson retired from a 45-year career in the forest products industry and now lives in the Denver metro area. He struggled deeply with the growing political divide during the 2016 elections, and over the past 4 years became committed to bringing Americans of diverse political viewpoints together through his involvement in Braver Angels. If you cannot attend at the Lincoln Center, please join us on zoom.
All are welcome. Please join us Wednesday to learn more about the February 29 workshop “Skills for Bridging the Divide”.
Nathan Shaw, Founder and Executive Director of Vindeket Foods will be our speaker for this week's evening meeting, 5:30 at Sweetwater Brewery. Vindeket Foods’ mission is to empower each of us to take ownership in the food cycle to restore our earth, our communities, and ourselves. Here is a link to their website to learn more about who/what/purpose for Vindeket Foods.
Please consider volunteering to be a greeter for our in-person lunch meetings during the first quarter of 2024 (January 3 through March 27). You could either select a specific Wednesday or identify a range of weeks when you could be available. Greeters rarely serve more than one time per quarter. For new members, this is a fun and efficient way to meet all of the other members of the club. There will be no meeting on January 31.
Our Board of Directors has approved for membership, Wes Alles. Wes is a retired professor, researcher and scholar, having taught at the University of New Mexico, Penn State and is a Professor Emeritus with 30 years at Stanford. He has traveled extensively, working with non-profits, medical schools and hospitals. He retired in Fort Collins in 2020.
