Veteran Mental Health Awareness
This coming Wednesday, June 19th, the luncheon meeting of Rotary at the Lincoln Center features Wendy Miller, the Executive Director of our local Healing Warrior Program. Following her introduction by Kevin Davie, Wendy will speak on this non-profit’s mission. This ties in with one of RCFC’s major fundraising events, a golfing outing on Friday, August 9th, which Kevin is heading up. The event aims to help Healing Warrior in its effort to secure a suicide-free world where all Veterans, active-duty service members, and their families thrive. The proceeds would go to provide no-cost non-narcotic treatment to its many veteran clients. The tournament raises 1/3 of our annual charity distributions to the community. READ MORE...
This Wednesday at our evening meeting, we'll hear from David Rout, Executive Director of Homeward Alliance. Homeward Alliance (HWA) is a Larimer County-based non-profit that empowers individuals and families who face homelessness to survive, move forward, and thrive. Founded as Homeless Gear in 2008 to collect and distribute outdoor gear, we have, in the 16 years since, evolved into one of the largest and most-impactful service providers for people experiencing homelessness in Larimer County. HWA provides a range of services to about 5,000 individuals each year at over a dozen sites county-wide. David joined Homeward Alliance in 2012 and became the Executive Director in 2014. READ MORE...
Last week we welcomed our new Larimer County Clerk and Recorder, Tina Harris as our guest speaker. Most of us are thinking about elections this year as we have both a special election and a national election. But Tina’s job also includes oversight of Vehicle Licensing (VL) and Recording. Tina was introduced by Irene Josey our Larimer County Treasurer and Tina’s longtime friend and coworker. Irene assured us that Tina works very hard and is completely nonpartisan. The Clerk’s office this year is focused on outreach, and we were encouraged to listen, learn and share information about what the office does for the people of Larimer County. READ MORE...
