Role of the Larimer County Coroner’s Office

Our Rotary lunch meeting this Wednesday at the Lincoln Center features Matt Canaga, Larimer County Chief Deputy Coroner. Unofficial election results show Matt coming in after Stephen Hanks in an unusual contested election for the position.   After Matt’s introduction by Irene Josey, he plans to cover the statutory requirements of the Coroner’s Office, and explain the difference between manner and cause of death, and described which deaths require an autopsy. There will be a description of the equipment and facility that the office uses. He will discuss the challenges facing his office,  and will describe his staff. There will also be a discussion about the public health / safety aspect of what the Coroner’s office does.   READ MORE...

Melanie Chamberlain
We recently received the resignation letter of Past President Melanie Chamberlain. In addition to being Past President, Melanie served as Foundation Chair, Sergeant at Arms Chair, Membership Committee Co-Chair and in many other roles in our club over her 33 year membership, a great friend and great Rotarian.

Melanie writes:  "It is with great sadness that I write this letter of resignation from my Rotary club that I have cherished  for  over 30 years.  But circumstances  have arisen that make it impossible to continue to serve with my fellow Rotarians. It has been the one of the highlights of my life to serve as the  President of this wonderful club. And, to make cherished friends."

"But as the saying goes, it is time to move on and as much as I will miss many of you I am hoping that we will remain as friends and fellow Rotarians. In my heart I will always be a Rotarian ready to help and serve in any way I can to help those in need. Ray and I will continue to make annual contributions to The Rotary Foundation to help continue the incredible work done by TRF and Rotarians around the world."

"Best wishes to you all and thank you for more than 30 years of being a part of our great Rotary Club of Fort Collins."  Melanie F. Chamberlain
