The Rotary Foundation/Rotary International
Past President Melanie Chamberlain will host this week's program, emphasizing the importance of supporting The Rotary Foundation (TRF) and what happens to funds that become local, District and International Grants.  According to Melanie, the bulk of the program will be awarding Paul Harris Fellow pins and recognitions to those who have earned them this past year.  Due to Covid and non-meetings, the Committee has been saving them, and will now make the awards virtually and deliver them to the recipient's home or office.  Click here to join this week's Zoom meeting.
Vietnam Vet, POW and Author, Richard Wideman

Last week we observed Veteran’s day with our speaker, Robert Wideman, former Navy pilot and Vietnam POW.  Robert shared an abbreviated (and personal) version of his book Unexpected Prisoner: Memoir of a Vietnam POW.  The focus of this talk was on his capture and his first several weeks as a POW.  Click here to review the November 11, 2020 meeting.

Megan Butler named AF October Cadet of the Month
Rotarians Warren Wilson and Kip Turain recently recognized Megan Butler as Cadet of the Month!  Megan is an Air Force ROTC senior cadet from Colorado Springs, CO.  She serves as the Vice Wing Commander at Detachment 90.  After graduating from CSU in May 2021 with a degree in Health and Exercise Science plus a Health Promotion Concentration she hopes to enter the AF as an Intelligence Officer.  Through the Health Promotion program, she is interning with UC Health and assisting with the COVID 19 vaccine research trials.  Congratulations Megan!
President Del's Priorities and Plans
Wednesday July 1, 2020-21 President Del Benson outlined his background, priorities and thoughts for this coming year.  He touched on the challenges of declining noon membership and the resultant reduction in income and charitable pledges to support our service mission.  Del then outlined his priorities and a "U+2" Time, Talent and Treasure Challenge for every member:
  • Bring in two new members
  • Double contributions to Rotary funding needs
  • Help on two funding initiatives
  • Give time to two additional service projects
  • Organize new projects and outcomes
  • Attend two more meetings every quarter
  • Combine categories engaging U+2 and have twice the fun and accomplishments
He closed his remarks with preliminary plans for a "Good and Lucky Non-Event Fundraiser" this fall.  Stay tuned for details...
