Atmospheric Research Supercomputer

This Wednesday the Rotary Club of Fort Collins hosts Gary New, the Operations Section Head for the Wyoming Supercomputing Center in Cheyenne, a part of the National Center for Atmospheric Research.  Gary has over 39 years experience in facilities related to healthcare and information technology, and served as the Assistant Project Engineer for the design and construction of the Supercomputer Center.

Paul Harris Fellow Awarded
In recognition of her contribution to maternal and child health in Kenya through U.S. Agency for International Development, Karin Lane Gichuhi, daughter of Ross and Judy Lane, was presented with a Paul Harris Fellow award on December 23, 2019 by Martin and Mary Catherine Limbird. RCFC's Holiday Party at the FC Country Club 
Hoel Gym at Boys and Girls Club
President Marschke recognized Bob and Barbara Hoel for their donation for a gymnasium at the Boys and Girls Club.  Bob and Barbara funded significant upgrades to the gymnasium including updated bleachers, paint, new scoreboard, new basketball baskets and backboards, general equipment, a stage for performances and presentations and much more!  The refurbished gym is now named in their honor.  Thanks Bob and Barbara!

The Rotary History Fellowship will meet immediately after Wednesday's regular meeting in the foyer. John Roberts will present 'Hot Topics Around the World' and welcome our comments on them. Everyone and all opinions are welcome.
RCFC Service Above Self awardee Joyce Everitt (wife of RCFC member Bob (d. 2016) and mother of David Everitt) passed away in her sleep on Christmas Eve.  For a listing of her many accomplishments, please see her obituary  Memorial arrangements are pending.  
MARK YOUR CALENDAR:  Jan. 22 RCFC's lunch meeting will be at First Presbyterian Church, 531 South College, as a test.  The Board is seriously considering this venue because of significant annual savings.

Mara Johnson needs host families for our incoming youth exchange student (2020-21 school year).  She also thanked Club for the $4000 budget.
The Finance Committee meets this month on the 3rd Thursday, and the Board Meeting is the 4th Thursday each month.  Both meetings are from 3:30 to 5:00 in the Markley Motors Conference room.  All are invited.
Martin Limbird invited club members to join President-elect Del Benson and Jeannie in Honolulu June 6-10, 2020 for the Rotary International convention
Marty Bachman urged members to shop on Amazon Smile.  Rebates would be credited to our club at the rate of 0.5%.  Look for the Amazon logo on our website.
Sally Lee reported King Soopers rebate of $568.42.  If you haven’t signed up yet, see Sally.
Marty Bachman requests fun fundraising ideas.  She also needs volunteers for her committee.

Ralph Smith has 2020 calendars for sale for $15.  $5 comes back to the Legacy Fund.
The Board Of Directors approved participation in the 2020 Peach Festival.  The beneficiary will be Habitat for Humanity.  President Rob summarized the discussion and outlined the factors to be watched closely.  Peach Festival financial report update will be emailed to members.
SPECIAL NOTE:  Kathy Hawkins cautioned members not to pay dues AND charities with a single checks.  For charities contributions to be tax-deductible, you must write a separate check.
President Rob announced that for those wishing to apply for the new "Noon Membership Without Meals" category, a form needs to be completed and submitted to the Membership Committee.  
PDG Mike Forney invited retired professionals to join SCORE (Senior Corps Of Retired Executives).  Volunteers work with small business personnel to enhance their business.  Counselors are needed in Ft. Collins.  If interested, contact Mike Forney.
