Ludlow Massacre: Turning Point in US Labor Relations
This Wednesday, March 23, we meet at noon at the Lincoln Center (Please note that the March 30th meeting will also be at the Lincoln Center). Our speaker, Rotarian Martin Nelson, has a wealth of underground mining experience in the West. He will share with us the history and drama of the shocking attack on strikers and their families by company men and state forces at the Ludlow mines in southern Colorado in the early 20th century. Even for long- time residents of Colorado, the story of who these miners were, and how they and their wives and children came to their grim ends, will be eye opening. Martin will address the national impacts of this tragedy, and how the union vs. management conflicts have continued even to this day. READ MORE...
Last week Brigadier General (BG) Scott Sherman updated the Club on the mission and current activity of our Colorado National Guard (CONG). BG Sherman is currently serving in the position of Director of Joint Staff for the Colorado National Guard. Governor Jared Polis is the Commander in Chief and BG Sherman serves under the Adjutant General of Colorado, BG Laura Clellan. READ MORE...

The Board approved for membership, Giuliana 'Julie' Diaz. "Why I want to be a Rotarian: My friend Kerrie always talked about the work she has been doing with the Rotary team in Fort Collins and finally, one day, I thought to myself "What is rotary?". I quickly found myself spending 2 hours in front of the computer researching various different Rotary stories and there was one quote that really stood out to me: "I am a Rotarian because I know I can't save the world, but I can help make the world a nicer place." I've always wanted to be more connected with the country and community that gave me so many opportunities for growth during my career path. I want to be part of a group that makes a difference and also connect with others who have a similar mission." READ MORE ABOUT Giuliana Diaz...
Chuck is a Past District Governor, Past Club President, current District Foundation Chair and 21 year member of our club. Chuck is staying with Rotary but has decided to move his Club membership to the Fort Collins Breakfast Club starting next quarter. We will miss Chuck at our Club meetings, but we know we will still see him often doing the good work of Rotary. Best wishes Chuck!
