This Wednesday should be a real treat to the bicycle riders in RCFC, and all those who have given birth to their own businesses.  Our speaker, Rick Price, is the founder of ExperiencePlus! Bicycle Tours, Fort Collins very own bicycle touring company.  This is the story of how he and his wife, Paola Malpezzi Price, started and grew ExperiencePlus! Bicycle Tours from its beginning in 1972 as Bike Across Italy.  This event grew into an international bicycle touring company now offering tours in 20 different countries.

Community Grants Awards $2000 to Foundation Music School; Makes "Ask" Plea
In the second of a series, Chair Kathy Nicol updated RCFC on recent Community Grants, reviewed the past year's grants and made a plea for increased charitable contributions to RCFC's local Charities funding.  Community Grants recently awarded a $2,000 Youth Program grant to Foundation Music School, to be used to purchase instruments for student's use at home until in-person classes resume.  The instruments will then become school property to be used by all students.

CoronaVoyage: Semester at Sea During a Global Pandemic
At our Wednesday, June 3, ZOOM meeting, Scott Denning (CSU Monfort Professor of Atmospheric Science) told us about his wonderful experience teaching during the most recent pandemic-shortened voyage of Semester at Sea.  Semester at Sea occurs once in the Spring semester, once in the Fall semester and Scott was on the 128th voyage.  Semester at Sea, which started in 1963, has been hosted at CSU since 2016.

Evening Fellowship Extends Rotary Clothing Sale Deadline to June 15
Kelly Kettler announced the Evening Fellowship has extended their  Rotary logo-ed clothing sale to fund a $5000 Book Trust grant.  The new deadline for orders is July 15.  Their hope is when doing service projects or just out in the community, more Rotary gear would be seen sparking conversations with potential new members.  For more information go to https://sport-about.printavo.com/merch/rotary

Virtual District Conference Announced

Please join District Governor Chris Woodruff for what promises to be the shortest District Conference ever!  This year celebrate the 2019-2020 District 5440 Rotary year via ZOOM, June 13, 2020 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM.  

The conference will feature Johrita Solari, our RI Director and George McGraw, the Executive Director of Dig Deep, our Navajo Water project, as guest speakers.   District awards will be presented and the traditional Rose Ceremony will be held virtually.  Please register and receive the Zoom invitation via an email sent by Kellie Kegerreis.

A Peacebuilder Committee Zoom meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30, following our meeting.  Info available from Rob or Bill Timpson.
 
RCFC is recruiting a treasurer, additional members of the Finance Committee and a paid, part-time bookkeeper.  Contact President Rob or PE Del Benson for details.  
 
RCFC's next Finance Committee meeting is June 11, via Zoom.  Contact President Rob for details.  
 
From Kevin Unger via President Rob: drive up COVID testing may be covered by Medicare.  Consult your insurance to be sure. Set appointments through My Health Connection.UCHealth.org.  You can donate to this effort; however, we ask you give priority RCFC charities.
 
RCFC Board of Directors will meet via Zoom on the 3rd Thursday of June.  Details to follow.  
 
Older Announcements Still Relevant:
Fourth quarter invoices for the Operations (Club) Budget have been distributed, anticipating no meals or facilities for the quarter.  Members are encouraged to consider donating cost savings ($220) to our RCFC Charities.
 
Fourth Quarter invoices for Charities will go out at the end of May or in early June. 
 
Wednesday Noon member who wish to switch from “With Meals” to “Without Meals” need to submit (only once) a signed, written request form available from the Membership Committee or downloaded from our ClubRunner website.
 
Mara Johnson announced that the Rotary exchange program has been cancelled for the 2020-21 school year.  RCFC outbound student Natalie may still be able to spend the 2021-22 school year in Germany.  
 
Annette Geiselman announced that the Blood Bank is looking for anyone who has experienced and recovered from the Covid19 virus.  Contact the Blood Center.
 
The Rotary Read Book Group's next meeting is June 11, discussing Grant by Ron Chernow.  If you are interested in attending please read the book Grant and contact Dave Stewart.  
 
The RYLA Board has decided to postpone the 2020 RYLA, Young RYLA, and RYLA Plus conferences until 2021.  Those 11th graders who applied to RYLA and graduated from PSD this year will be eligible to apply for RYLA 2021.  However, this year's Seniors are no longer eligible to attend RYLA 2021.
 
Kathy Hawkins announced we now have a credit card charge device.  Member charges and contributions can now be handled at our weekly meetings.
 
Sally Lee reported King Soopers rebate of $468.00 that goes directly into our charitable budget.  If you haven’t signed up yet, see Sally.
 
Marty Bachman urged members to shop on Amazon Smile.  Rebates would be credited to our club at the rate of 0.5%.  Look for the Amazon logo on our website.
 
SPECIAL NOTE:  Kathy Hawkins cautioned members not to pay dues AND charities with a single checks.  For charities contributions to be tax-deductible, you must write a separate check.
 
PDG Mike Forney invited retired professionals to join SCORE (Senior Corps Of Retired Executives).  Volunteers work with small business personnel to enhance their business.  Counselors are needed in Ft. Collins.  If interested, contact Mike Forney.
