RECAP: Ludlow Massacre: Turning Point in US Labor Relations
Club member member Martin Nelson, a retired geologist and amateur historian, gave us a presentation on the “Ludlow Massacre: Turning Point in US Labor Relations” for our March 23 meeting in person at the Lincoln Center. In starting a talk about a labor strike and the management response to that strike, Martin pointed out that he had worked as a staff geologist at a mine at Park City where, during a strike there, he had been essentially a staff scab crossing the picket lines and that some of his relationships with the workers never recovered. Community Service Meetings (Grant Funds Available)
For the 2022-23 Rotary Year, which starts July 1st, our club is eligible for District grant funds up to $6,000 to match our Club's $3,000 contribution. The funds can be used for a humanitarian project or two projects with Rotary member active participation. The Community Service Committee selects any local projects with member input. All are welcome to discuss at Community Service Committee meeting at Lincoln Center on Wednesday at 10:30 or at SweetWater Brewing during evening meeting on April 6th at 5:30.
For the Rotary year 2022-23, starting July 1st, David Dunne has accepted the position of Evening Chair and Board member.
David has been a Rotarian for 21 years and has held numerous leadership positions including president of both the Boerne Sunrise Club 2020-21 and The Rotary Club of San Antonio at the Dominion 2008-09. David is from San Antonio, TX and moved to Fort Collins in 2021. READ MORE...
We are happy to annouce Dawn T-Baumgartner as our new RYLA Chair. RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is a life-changing leadership training program where young people learn, develop, and enhance leadership skills and principles in an atmosphere of trust and respect. Students who are currently a high school sophomore, junior, or senior, may apply to attend RYLA. RYLA conference in 2022 is July 17 – July 22 (Sun. – Fri.) We want to thank our outgoing chair Lloyd Thomas for his many, many years of service and dedication to RYLA. Lloyd is remaining involved and on the committee.
