In RCFC's annual celebration of our agricultural heritage, Wednesday, November 7, Zach Thode, manager of the Roberts Ranch north of Fort Collins, will be guest speaker at RCFC. He will bring the Club up to date on the current ag outlook in Larimer County, including challenges with land use, water issues, and adjusted practices due to crop prices. He will also address developments in alternative crops like hemp, and some of the challenges with growing, harvesting and marketing specialty crops.
Early this past fall, to-be-inducted RCFC member Milt Garrett was part of a 50 person, 30 day, eight city, "citizen diplomat mission" to Russia. As part of that mission, Garrett visited several Rotary Clubs, presented RCFC banners, and reported on use of the 4-Way Test. Shown is Garrett presenting a banner to the Rotary Club of Barnaul, Siberia, who had no banner to return.
In RCFC's first-ever live video presentation given via cell phone from the speaker's car, on October 30, Megan Lundstrom, Executive Director of Free Our Girls, told us about her experience of becoming a sex-trafficking victim, of working her way out of that situation, and ultimately forming her non-profit organization, Free Our Girls, dedicated to helping individuals in similar situations to work their way back to healthier lives.
Fellowship Committee announces a social opportunity—Friday, November 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the Jewelry Emporium, 3120 S. College (north of Foothills Parkway in strip center between J. Crew and Chico’s). Wine & beer available for $5/drink. Light snacks will be available. Music will be provided by the same 2 lovely ladies singing that were at our 100th celebration. There will be drawings for 10 $50 gift certificates to spend in the store and a percentage of the sales that night will be donated back to our Rotary Club. Thanks to Susan Harrison for hosting this event at her store.

Harry Mueller reported Jim Collinson is doing well after knee surgery. However, he isn’t ready for visitors yet.
John Trone will be emailing a survey to get suggestions for improving our approach to Peach Festival.
Marty Bachman renewed her request for fun fundraising ideas. She also needs volunteers for her committee.
Ralph Smith said that although Nov. 13 is the District Governor’s visit, we will be paying tribute to our veterans also.

Kathy Nicol reminded members that we are only allowed to use our lunch venue, plus the Lobby, for Rotary committee meetings either before or after our regular noon meeting. There are other groups that use the Drake venue and we must respect the Drake staff’s time as they set up the room to the west of us.
Chuck Rutenberg needs volunteers to help divide 18,000 diapers into family-size units on November 21. The diapers are from the Nappie Project recently funded to aid low income family needing diapers in order to qualify for day care. Get specific info from Chuck about time and location.
