A New Facility at CSU - Accelerating Laser Fusion
This Wednesday, the luncheon meeting of RCFC at the Lincoln Center welcomes Dr. Carmen L. Menoni, a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Colorado State University. Following her intro by Ralph Smith, she will speak on an exciting new facility being planned on the Foothills Campus of Colorado State University. It is a public-private partnership between the University and a state-of-the-art European company, and is designed to bring the power of ultrahigh intensity lasers to the prospect of fusion energy. Completion of this facility will put the University at the forefront of an exciting new area of energy development, and provide jobs, undergraduate and graduate student training. Dr. Stewart has over 45 years of experience in the water quality, water resources and water/wastewater treatment industry. Dr. Stewart is a Diplomate - Water Resources of the American Council of Civil Engineers. He has testified before the US Congress and the National Academy of Science on environmental issues on five different occasions. Dr. Stewart is also a technical reviewer for the Colorado School of Mines Research Partnership for a Secure Energy for America (RPSEA) project and an adjunct professor of Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University.
