CPP Wind Engineers, From CSU to the Future
This Wednesday at noon, at the Lincoln Center, our guest speaker will be John Carter, Vice President and Senior Principal of CPP Wind Engineering. CPP’s team, based in Windsor, CO and Sydney, Australia provide a wide variety of wind and airflow related services for projects around the world. Following his introduction by Bob Meroney, our speaker will showcase some of the prominent and interesting projects this company has worked on, and fill us in on the new company facility in Windsor. The Board voted to approve the membership of James Shumaker. Jim is a long-time Fort Collins resident, recently retired from his consulting firm working with paperboard packaging manufacturers after a long career with Teledyne WaterPik. Jim has a long history of volunteering with different agencies in our community and is looking forward to more local and international volunteer opportunities. Jim plans to primarily attend our noon meetings.
The Board voted to approve the membership of Mark Westerling. Mark is a corporate/investment banker with Wells Fargo bank. He recently moved to Fort Collins from Cody, Wyoming, where he’s been a Rotarian for over 10 years and is a Paul Harris fellow. Mark is looking forward to getting involved in his new community. Mark plans to primarily attend our noon meeting.
The Community grants committee has recently selected 2 agencies to receive funds under the Education Program category.
Northern Colorado Wildlife Center - $1,000. This grant will support family-friendly wildlife education classes on how to safely intervene with wildlife in distress or experiencing human-wildlife conflict on their property.
Junior Achievement - $3,500: This grant will fund 13 PSD classrooms utilizing JA’s financial literacy, entrepreneurship, /and work readiness programs.
For our noon Lincoln Center meetings, please pre-purchase guest lunches on Eventbrite. Please also use Eventbrite to purchase lunches if you normally attend our evening meeting or in the noon beverage only category.
On Thursday, September 16th, we volunteered at the Poudre High School Mobile Pantry. The Food Bank is hosting pop-up mobile food pantries throughout Larimer County. Anyone in need of food is welcome to attend. The pantries are “drive-through” where clients can receive a variety of pre-selected food items. We served over 108 families on Thursday.
Just a few more days left to sign up for our September 29th fall picnic, sign-up deadline is this Wednesday, the 22nd. If interested please sign up now. You can also sign up at this link, or contact Sue Wagner for more information on how to register. It will be a fun event to bring a guest!
We had an impactful program on Restorative Justice last week during our noon meeting, hope you enjoyed it. If you missed it, here is the handout about the Fort Collins program and also a recap of the program. Also, during the evening meeting we heard from Lisa Plauta from Finally Home, a local non-profit whose work engages with foster, adopted and kinship families to teach them how to provide a healthy and healing home environment.
Thanks to all who volunteered Thursday at the Mobile Food Pantry, over 108 families were provided food, check out these pictures. Volunteers are returning to be of service at the pantry on the next scheduled date, October 7th, and the sign-up is already full, thanks! Be sure to sign up early when the following date is announced.
Last, but not least, please welcome Jessica Grove to the Club. Jessica was inducted during our evening meeting this week; we are excited to have her as part of Rotary.
