Poudre Valley Community Farms
This Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Dr. Stacy Lischka will explain why a local farming and conservation enterprise, Poudre Valley Community Farms (PVCF), was started in 2016 and how they pursue their three priorities:
1. secure access to land and water for local farmers and ranchers;
2. support conservation agriculture; and
3. foster a connected community of people who grow, eat, and care about food.
Stacy Lischka, the mother of two, grew up on a Wisconsin farm, and with her husband is passionate about using local foods to connect people and nature. As a conservation researcher, Stacy worked for governments and nonprofits nationwide before settling in Northern Colorado. She is a passionate cook and a water sports enthusiast. READ MORE...
During our in-person meeting on August 28, club member Bob Meroney, in his usual entertaining and amusing style, used general definitions and specific examples to introduce us to slang and other euphemisms, past, present, and (with tongue in cheek) the future. It’s 1943. WWII rages. The Amache High School (Japanese Internment camp) Valedictorian is preparing his Graduation speech. Searchlights reflect through his windows. Marion Konishi asks himself, “What does America mean to me?” This Wednesday September 4, Lynne Baker will lead the DEI Fellowship’s discussion of Konishi-san’s speech. All are welcome. Discussion will start immediately following the Noon Rotary meeting (approximately 1:15pm) in the Lincoln Center Columbine Room. A few questions: ‘Have we really changed much since 1943?’ ‘Could it happen again?’ ‘Could the 4-way test help?’ Please bring your own questions and join us at 1:15 Wednesday.
