Last week on August 11th, we heard the State of the City Address from Fort Collins Mayor Jeni Arndt and Fort Collins City Manager, Darin Atteberry.  Jeni introduced the program with her bio - she was born in Boulder but raised in Fort Collins. She taught in high school and college.  After working internationally she returned to the city and served 3 terms as a representative in the Colorado State Legislature. She was elected mayor in April.

Volunteer Opportunity - Community Grants
The Community Grants Committee is looking for 3-4 Rotarians to join their committee.  Meetings are held quarterly to review grant applications and then present grant checks to the agencies awarded.  Please contact Kathy Nicol for further information.
Jami Dorsey - Prospective Member approved by Board
Jami is Fort Collins Agency President for Colorado AssuredPartners. Jami is looking forward to additional opportunities to do more for others outside of her profession. She has been involved in community service projects through the agency, but really wants to step it up a notch as far as giving back and really engaging with others in the community to help make a difference, both locally and internationally.
Mike Sollenberger
Mike is leaving the Club to pursue his passion for low income-affordable senior housing. The DMA Plaza renovation project, which will provide 124 apartments, has become a rewarding but time consuming project. The success though has opened more opportunities in this area for Mike. We wish Mike the best on this exiciting endevor!
The Rotary Club of Fort Collins Breakfast is asking for your support, purchasing Palisade peaches and peach pies. Proceeds will benefit 3rd Grade Teachers within the Poudre School District.

It was great chatting with fellow Rotarians on Tuesday morning at our Coffee & Conversation this week. Our next coffee will be Sept. 14th, hope to see you then. This week's lunch program with Mayor Jeni Arndt and Fort Collins City Manager, Darin Atteberry, was interesting and enjoyable, sounds like our city is doing well. Lastly, a big thank you to Ron, Troy and everyone who volunteered on Saturday for the highway cleanup, what a great service project tradition.
This Wednesday at noon we are meeting on Zoom. I am looking forward to hearing the update on Santa Maria Orphanage, hope you are as well. Our club has been active there over the years with numerous members visiting the orphanage and various Rotarians working on beneficial projects.
Later this week we will be sending out a survey to gather input on meeting frequency for next quarter at the Lincoln Center. We appreciate your feedback which will help your Board make this important decision later this month.
For the month of September I am excited about the numerous interesting gatherings organized for Rotary.  Early in the month we will be heading back to the Global Village Museum on September 9th for Evening at the Museum.  Registration is opening up soon and will be limited so please save the date and register early. The next day, September 10th, we have a great opportunity to tour the CSU Spur, you can sign up now or email Maggie for information. We close out the month with our annual picnic at Fossil Creek Park on September 29th. I hope to see you at one or more of these events.
Currently and until the 21st I am traveling in Pennsylvania which means I will miss our Wednesday evening meeting this week.  If you can attend, it will be at Lirano Wine Bar.  This week they will be discussing possible fall projects and a possible fundraiser.  I am looking forward to hearing more about their discussion, ideas, and decisions. Hope you can join them. :)
