The Rotary Club of Fort Collins will hear an analysis of one of the most important current global events at the August 9th luncheon meeting at the Lincoln Center. Fellow Rotarian Henry Weisser will present his thoughts on the war in Ukraine, which has fascinated us for months and led Americans to ask questions about the fundamental nature of Russia and Ukraine today. Are there constant, recurring themes in Russian history? What similarities do these two nations have? How have they been deeply intertwined in history? In what ways are they different? RECAP: Colorado State University’s Role in National Security
Last week our speaker was fellow Rotarian and retired Colonel (USAF), Wiley Barnes, now Executive Director, CSU Office of Defense Engagement (ODE). This is a brand-new office and Wiley is its first director. CSU’s land grant pedigree and ethos will now have an opportunity to positively impact the national security sector. Its first director comes with impressive credentials - 25 years of experience as an intelligence officer and military strategist - “a past of war planning and operations and a future of ensuring peace”. After our Wednesday lunch meeting this week, our History and Current Events Fellowship will meet and discuss today's program topic, "Russia, Ukraine and Their War." Presenter Henry Weisser will be staying for the conversation and questions.
