Affordable Housing – What’s Up in Fort Collins?
Our guest speaker for the February 22nd luncheon meeting at the Lincoln Center is Max Moss, head of the HF2M-Colorado company which is developing Montava.  Max has spoken to RCFC previously to report on the plans for this major addition to northern Colorado, but his focus next Wednesday will be on the critical need for affordable housing in our area.  Following his introduction, our speaker will explain what affordable housing is in Fort Collins and how Montava will play a significant role in addressing the need. He will also highlight some of the technologies that will be part of this project and how they can be used to implement the goals of affordable housing while still having a very high quality development.  READ MORE...

RECAP: The Beet Worker Project
Last week we had 2 speakers representing the Beet Worker Project and the contributions of Hispanic workers to agriculture and the economy of northern Colorado. Betty is best known for her educational efforts (via films and presentations) and as a force behind the 2021 statue “Hands that Feed” (Vine and Lemay) as well as her work at the Museo de Tres Colonias. Chuck may be known to the men in the audience as the barber at Carmel Barbershop in downtown Fort Collins for over 50 years.  Betty spoke of the history of 3 neighborhoods and the hard work of Mexican immigrants in the sugar beet fields that once surrounded our city. Chuck shared a very personal story because he was one of those workers!   READ MORE...
