On February 12, The evening group welcomes Meg Dunn to tell us the story of man who left his mark on Larimer County during the early Civil War.
She’s back! Meg Dunn, a board member of the Fort Collins Historical Society and Historic Larimer County, visited both the Noon and Evening groups last year to tell us stories of local Fort Collins history. Her presentation on the Emma Malaby Grocery Store last year left such a mark with the (perhaps a touch) history-obsessed Evening Chair that he couldn’t resist calling her back again. This time around, in honor of Black History Month, Meg will be covering a former slave who, early in the Civil War, headed west and found his home right here in Larimer County. This man of many talents and occupations encountered adventure, struggle, and, on one occasion, met one of the most famous Americans of his era. If you missed seeing Meg at her storytelling craft last year, please don’t miss her again as she joins us this week!
