I liked reading and reciting the Four-Way Test of the Rotarian values. It’s refreshing to speak to the values each week.

I retired at the end of October of this year after nearly 43 years as a State Farm Insurance Agent. The best part of my years as an agent was the relationships developed with so many individuals.  I miss that even today.

It might have appeared to my wife (Alli), my three sons (Blake, Jeff and Rob) and their wives, their 10 kids (my grandkids), their wives and 3 great grandkids that I have been retired for several years.  Not true. The heaviness of responsibility of owning a business never ceases.  I’m now retired and I can breath.
I now find myself cleaning house and assisting with other domestic chores more than ever before.  With that aside, I’m an active cyclist enjoying mountain biking, road biking and cyclocross.  I fish using techniques of Chad Lachance as my mentor.

Other hobbies include art and sewing.  From 1975 to 1980 I was the manager of a retail store in the Foothills Fashion Mall know as Frostline.  The products sold were sew-it-yourself kits of outdoor clothing and equipment.  Products included coats, jackets, vests, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags and rain gear.   I learned to sew then and I have kept up my skills by designing and sewing a wide range of garments.

When in college at UNC Greeley where I studied Geology, I took an interest in computer programming.  That lead me to an interest in graphic art.  I’ve played with graphic art from 1970 until the present time. Although I’ve gone though stages of practicing with watercolor, oil, and acrylics, I’ve always come back to computer art. I use a notebook computer and stylist (as a paint brush). I have somewhere in the neighbor 400 completed art pieces.

I’m looking forward to participating in Rotary projects as I become more familiar with the work Rotary does in Fort Collins.
