With generous support from the Rotary Club of Fort Collins, KRFC 88.9 FM replaced its aging studio turntables with new, broadcast-quality equipment.
The upgrade immediately improved sound quality and reliability across KRFC’s locally produced programs, many of which feature Colorado musicians and vinyl collections. Volunteer DJs now have the tools they need to present music with the warmth and clarity that define community radio. The turntables are used daily for live shows such as Rocky Mountain Breakdown, Choice City Funk, and (of course), The Vinyl Frontier. All project costs and activities went as planned. Rotary’s support was recognized on-air, in newsletters, and at community events, where KRFC 88.9 FM thanked the Club for helping sustain a trusted, local media resource.
Video: The Vinyl Frontier
The accompanying video features one of KRFC’s longtime volunteer DJs demonstrating the new broadcast-quality turntables purchased through Rotary Club support. In the segment, he shares his enthusiasm for the equipment, describing how the precision controls and improved sound fidelity enhance his ability to curate vinyl-based shows. The video captures both his passion and the tactile artistry of radio—showing how these tools connect decades of local music tradition with today’s listeners. His remarks and on-air demonstration highlight the lasting impact of Rotary’s investment: preserving radio’s analog heritage while empowering the volunteers who bring music, memory, and community to life each day on KRFC 88.9 FM.
