Book Trust is an organization whose mission is to provide children equitable access to books of their choice in order to promote reading motivation and engagement.
In partnership with Scholastic, donors, and educators, the Book Trust program provides students in Title 1 elementary schools the opportunity to choose and keep their own books—at no cost to their families. The program is implemented at the school and district level. Throughout the school year, every student in a Book Trust classroom gets to choose books from our custom Scholastic Book Clubs flyer. When the book box arrives, the entire class participates in a celebration! Students write their names in their books and add them to take home to add to their growing personal libraries. Book Trust started in Fort Collins, CO in 2001 and continues to serve all Title 1 elementary schools in Poudre School District. The Book Trust program is currently in schools in 15 states across the nation, serving over 50,000 students in almost 3,000 classrooms.
