This year’s Rotarian of the Year has been a member of this club since 1989. She has served on several committees, with emphasis on programs, membership, finance and The Rotary Foundation. She is a past board member and past president of our club. She served as chair of the first multi-Club fundraiser, “Pigs and Pits,” and has remained a key member of the steering committee of its successor, the Rotary Peach Festival. She is one of those members who is always ready to pitch in and help, no matter the event or occasion...

During this Rotary year she has served the Club as unpaid executive secretary, keeping our membership records straight and insuring that communications flow smoothly between our Club, the District and Rotary International. She is in the second year of a three-year term as Assistant District Governor, and will begin serving a three-year term as District Trainer beginning in July.

She has retired – twice – from her position as an administrator at Front Range Community College, but remains a consultant to other institutions on curriculum development, accreditation grant writing and development of strategic partnerships.

She rarely misses a weekly meeting, but when she does it’s usually because she and her husband, Steve, are on a cruise somewhere in the world.

Please help me congratulate this year’s Rotarian of the Year, Phyllis Abt.
