Past President Bob Seymour introduced Lt. Col. Shane Celeen of the CSU Army ROTC detachment to introduce the Cadet of the Month, Cadet Brandon Thaxton. Col. Celeen said that Brandon was selected because of his outstanding leadership and scholastic accomplishments...

Brandon introduced himself as a Sophomore majoring in Political Science who was born in Florida, but raised in Greeley. He said that his first experience with Rotary was when he attended Young RYLA. He gave credit to that experience as the point in his life where he developed who he is and what he wanted to do in his life. One of those choices led him to CSU and to the Army ROTC program. Brandon told us that he has been accepted to the Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency Program that the Army offers. His assignment will be in the country of Georgia this summer.

Brandon told us that upon graduation he wants to be commissioned as an Infantry Officer. He said that his father was in the Air Force and his grandfather was a Marine, so when they meet, he gets challenged for his decision to be in the Army as his worst possible choice.
