Group Study ExchangeEvery year, District 5440 participates in Rotary International’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program. The Group Study Exchange program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women. The program is designed to develop professional and leadership skills among young adults to better prepare them to address the needs of their communities in an ever-increasing global workplace. In addition, the exchange strives to improve international understanding by enabling people from different countries to learn from each other on a personal level. Each GSE team consists of a Rotarian who acts as the team leader and four or five young professional non-Rotarians. The GSE program provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for young business professionals to spend 4-5 weeks in another country. There, they will visit businesses and meet professionals in their field of work and observe, first hand, the similarities and differences between their native country and the country they a visiting. GSE participants are hosted by Rotary families who ensure their comfort and provide them with an incredible opportunity to learn about the family life and culture of the host country. For more information on the GSE program, please click on the Group Study Exchange tab of the District 5440 web site http://www.rotary5440.org/index.htm. This year, the GSE team will travel to Australia. The team from Australia, District 9650, will be in Northern Colorado from May 18, 2010 through May 24, 2010. The Rotary Foundation pays for most of the team member’s expenses, including transportation and meals, with team members expected to pay only for their personal incidental expenses.
