Henry Weisser introduced the principal of Wellington Middle School, Alicia Durand, to introduce the Teacher of the Month, Bill Cleary. First Alicia thanked Rotary for all we do for education and PSD. Alicia said that Bill is only six years older than our Student of the Month. Bill is the Music Director for the school. He teaches Band and Orchestra and Chior for 6th, 7th and 8th grades...

Bill said that he is in his second year and Wellington Middle School He is a graduate of the Education and Music Department at Colorado University and glad to be in a very strong school district that is very supportive of the music and the arts. Bill said that when people ask him what he does and he says he teaches middle school, they say, ‘that sounds nice’ with a very concerned looki. When Bill was in middle school and in the band, he wondered what it would be like to be involved in a band all his life, and not he is there. He said it was fun and cool to come full circle.

Bill said that as weird as it seems, he likes Middle School kids and he really likes teaching beginners. He played on his trumpet, the fifth instrument he has mastered, how beginners sound, with the missed and prolonged notes, and sputtering. With his personality, it was easy to see how students might like him as a teacher.
