This month the BoD approved applying $2500 from our RCFC Legacy Fund to the Everett STEM challenge, appointed Satellite Treasurer Jon Land as Assistant Club Treasurer, and approved expanding our 2018 Centennial to “100 Years of Rotary in Fort Collins” and including all four Fort Collins Rotary Clubs.  PE Glenn Schmidt will lead the combined club initiative.  Read more….

Here’s a quick synopsis of the September Board of Director’s meeting.  Full board minutes will be posted on Club Runner when approved.

Membership:  Membership drives our Service mission; RCFC has inducted 14 new members since July 1, and now have 21 attending the Satellite meetings.  Thanks Rotarians!  Justie Nicol has led creation of two new informational packets – one with application forms for prospective members, and one for Newly Inducted Members.  Thanks Justie and Membership!

Finances:  Jack was on vacation, so no report; our accountant assures we are financially sound.  The 2015-16 budget will be reviewed in October when Peach Festival, New West Fest, and new member pledge forms results are known.  We hope to finish funding 2015-16 requests at that time.
Satellite Treasurer Jon Land was appointed Assistant Treasurer, backing up Jack Vogt.  This is a 1 year appointment to provide backup, and to more closely link the Satellite membership with the Wednesday membership.

Accounts Receivable:  The Finance Committee is working to define a new Club Dashboard, and clarify our Member Accounts Receivable ProcessesAny member with an outstanding bill; now would be a good time to get caught up, and/or make arrangements (in writing) with Treasurer Jack Vogt.  For details, on Club Runner > Member Area, look for My Club Runner, and click on My Billing Account Balance.

Legacy Fund:  The Board allocated $2,500 from the Legacy Fund to the Everett Family STEM Challenge Grant.  The remaining Legacy Funds distribution will be allocated at the September Board Meeting.

STEM:  The Quad Club STEM project will receive 1/3 of the projected $74,000 generated from the Peach Festival.  The STEM Committee has also organized each of the four clubs to take leadership in a specific area.  RCFC will continue to evaluate and administer all grants; Breakfast will lead ‘providing school resources’; After Work will lead ‘competition’; Foothills will lead ‘Teacher Development’.

Centennial Committee Update:  The board approved including all four Fort Collins Clubs in the “Rotary in Fort Collins Centennial” planning and execution, and appointed PE Glenn Schmidt to lead the overall effort, working with all four clubs, the existing committee and Johnnie and Bonnie.

Paul Harris Fellowships:  TRF Chair Mike Sollenberger and Board Director Matt Fries have been asked to proposal how we might use the existing Paul Harris Fellowship points to promote Rotary and honor non-Rotarians who make a difference in our community.  Member inputs are welcome.

Board Governance Discussions: After the regular meeting the Board discussed the role of a Director - leading their portfolio and committees to achieve our Strategic Initiatives.  Leadership was framed in terms of the “Leadership Challenge” – Model the way, Inspire a shared vision, Challenge the process, Enable others to act, and Encourage the heart – (MICEE).

Monthly Board meetings have now been officially changed to the 4th Thursday of each month.  The next meeting will be 3:30, October 22, at the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, 4745 Wheaton Drive – one block south of Harmony on Wheaton.  All Rotarians are always welcome.
Please contact any board member for details on anything above, or any other question.
Yours in Rotary Service,
