This years awardee came to our club in April of 2005 having been sponsored by Stacy Plemmons. Over that 10 year period he has accomplished an amazing record in all of the 5 areas of service that Rotary recognizes;

Vocational Service:

His classification is listed as International Consultant. Basically he excelled as an engineering manager for Hewlett Packard and Agilent. He has truly employed the skills of his vocation in all the other areas of Rotary service...

International Service:

He immediately became active on our International Programs & Grants committee. He was a major sponsor for a Global Grant in improving farming in Guatemalan villages as a service to another Rotary district. He led a District Grant for STEM projects in our own community. He served as IP&G Chair for two years. He then shared his knowledge of grant writing by leading workshops at District 5440 assemblies and conferences as well as the 3 district President Elects Training Seminar.. He is now in his 2nd year as District 5440 Grants Coordinator.

Community Service:

He has served as managing director for the International Institute for Sustainable Development at CSU. He is the Founding Director of NEON Global Research which provides cost effective marketing research and analysis to small businesses. He founded ESCELANCE INTERNATIONAL, a micro enterprise development organization. He is also on the advisory board for the Center for the Advancement of Sustainable Enterprise.

Club Service:

He has obviously been a very active participant and leader in our clubs International work and and local work with our youth. He is now in his first year of a 3 year term on our Board of Directors.

Service for Youth:

This Rotarian’s Passion for Enhancing the Educational Experiences of our youth comes through in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math now called STEM. He started our club’s STEM committee which under his leadership has raised and distributed about $75,000 to STEM Activities in the PSD. In addition to his fundraising and organizational activities , he works directly with teachers and students in the Poudre School District by coaching Lego Robotics Teams and serving as a Lego Robotics judge. He is possibly the best known STEM proponent in Fort Collins

I would add a sixth service area; National Service:

His strong interest in STEM activities has a national importance with the need for more workers in our country with strong STEM skills.

This year’s Five Avenues of Service Award goes to JIM EPSTEIN.
